All admissions for FST Federation of Primary Schools are handled by North Yorkshire admissions team and in accordance with the North Yorkshire Council Admissions policy.
Nursery Admissions
Prospective families are encouraged to visit our nurseries to have a feel for the environment and to gain further information. Children are welcome to start nursery straight after their third birthday. Families are offered the opportunity of transition sessions, either for a morning or an afternoon, to help a child settle in the environment and begin to build relationships with our Early Years team before starting to attend nursery on their set days. Staff will communicate with parents/carers about how a child is settling in through a child's planner to record key messages, and use the online learning journal ‘Tapestry’ to celebrate a child’s learning and development.
Reception Admissions
Between October and January, you can apply for a reception school place to start in September of the next academic year. The deadline for admissions applications is the start of January. Prior to this, parents are welcome to arrange a visit to our schools by contacting the relevant school office.
School places are offered in the middle of April each year. After this point, a member of staff will get in contact to arrange transition sessions for those who do not currently attend our school nurseries to help settle the children and begin building positive relationships with our Early Years team. All Reception parents/ carers will be invited to a transition meeting with the EYFS class teacher in the summer, prior to them starting in September. This provides useful opportunities to share details about the school, routines, and policies.
